Head To Health have identified four ways you can stay mentally healthy during COVID-19:

  1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle – set up a daily routine, stay active, eat well and stay digitally connected with friends and family.
  2. Stay informed – source information from trusted and credible sources.
  3. Stay positive – the current situation is unpleasant, but it will pass.
  4. Access support – access phone or online mental health services.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recognised that the COVID-19 outbreak is generating stress throughout the population. The WHO Department of Mental Health and Substance Use has developed a series of messages that can be used in communications to support mental and psychosocial well-being in different target groups during the outbreak. These include message for:

  • the general population
  • healthcare workers
  • team leaders or managers in health facilities
  • carers of children
  • older adults, people with underlying health conditions and their carers
  • people in isolation
